	Latest paper published in Applied Energy: A three-dimensional unsteady numerical model on a novel aerogel-based PV/T-PCM system with dynamic heat-transfer mechanism and solar energy harvesting analysis March 2023 Recently, a PhD student in Prof. ZHOU's research group, ZHENG Xinyao has published a research paper related to the photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) system in Applied Energy. In this research, a novel PV/T system incorporated with silica aerogel and composite PCM was proposed for solar energy harvesting. The aerogel with high visible light transmittance (0.95), low thermal emittance (0.2) and low thermal conductivity (0.02W/m·K) was adopted to penetrate solar radiation and reduce radiative and convective heat loss, while PCM with active cooling system was integrated for solar cell thermal management, thus realizing efficient solar energy harvesting. The techno-economic-environmental performance of the novel aerogel-based PV/T-PCM system was numerically evaluated and analyzed, providing a frontier guideline for the system design, smart operation, and advanced material synthesis. The authors found that 1) compared to traditional PV/T system, the integration of silica aerogel can significantly improve the thermal efficiency but lead to the decrease in electrical efficiency. 2) The PCM layer heat-transfer enhancement, active cooling water flow rate shows great improvement in system thermal and electrical performances. 3) Through optimization, the aerogel-based PV/T-PCM system shows a significantly higher techno-economic-environmental performance than traditional PV/T system. 	Dr. Yuekuan ZHOU was appointed as the Editor Board Member of Energy Nexus May 2022 Energy Nexus is an inter-disciplinary journal which covers the deep, broad, meaningful convergence between Energy, Water, and Agriculture. 	Dr. Yuekuan ZHOU was awarded as the Distinguished PhD Candidate in 2021 for Energy and Built Environment Journal 2021 Energy and Built Environment (EBE) is an international journal that disseminates original research articles on energy harvesting and utilization in the built environment. The aim is to present new research results that are focused on promoting energy efficiency, clean energy utilization, and environment quality in the built environment, which constitutes buildings and transportation.
